Lighthouse Lore

Setting:

Lighthouse takes place in Paradise, the one and only continent of Earth. There is only five major cities, and several smaller towns (which are unimportant). A couple centuries the first and only war was sparked. After years of fighting, humanity decided to band together and make world peace. This was when the world government CENTRAL was established. Ever since, resource and environmental issues have not been a worry, leaving everything in a positive stasis. 40 years ago, a thin mist began to cover Paradise. 20 years ago, the mist has grown so thick that the sky is no longer visible. The current year in it is 2026.

Locations:

CENTRAL CITY- The capital of Paradise, and home to the world government.

Jeuno- The Northernmost city. Distant from the rest of Paradise.

The Net- The world beyond the screen. Seems every online game is interconnected here.

Functions of the Net:

The Lighthouse- A building located at the center of the Net. It is visible in almost every online game. The light appears to be pointing to locations within the Net.

Daemons- Digital ghosts. Some patrol the Lighthouse. People can be haunted by them.

"The First Step"- A point in the Net. Shadow has said that there is a specific order to follow.

Oracle Orbs- An item from ASO that creates a camera. Argos is using these to track the Player Characters through the Net.

Established Games:

Aether-Scape Online (ASO)- Argos' game of choice, and what he runs a private server for. Where him and Shadow met.

Black Soul Online (BSO)- Dark Souls inspired MMO. Brian knows many tricks and out of bound glitches here.

Trick X Tricky (TxT)- Online kart racing game with a cardgame mechanic. Leks plays it competitively.

Endless Guns Online (EGO)- An MMO shooter game where you loot guns from the map and off of other players. Highly competitive. Jakie plays often and has a hacked gun.

Thundershock- An older shooter game that released in July, 2001. Second appearance of the Lighthouse. Devs mentioned in a forum post that they didn't intend for it to be there.

Glyph-Field- Released in January 2001. One of the first 3D MMOs, and where the first recorded appearance of the Lighthouse. Is often attributed as the beginning of the Lighthouse "easter egg".

Players:

Brain Smith (Sy’lent Brotagoniste)- A dead inside corner store worker. Has compiled a lot of data about BSO. An acquaintance of Argos. Looking for his lost friend that was also researching the Lighthouse.

Leks Aurum (Golden Boy)- Once a big shot hacker who broke into Ad Astrum Financial's systems. Now retired after turning himself in, he has become a competitive player of Trick X Tricky. Was recruited by Shadow to assist Argos with any programming issues, on the promise that the project would be of interest.

Jakie (_-Ripper-_)- A hostile and insecure e-sports player. Plays Endless Guns Online, and has amassed quite a bit of notoriety. Was kicked out of a different group trying to uncover the Lighthouse's secrets.

Non-Player Characters:

Argos Borealis (Pan0ptica1)- A depressed nerd who is obsessed with an old MMO. Was on disability for a work injury, but is for some reason still being paid months later? Has a long and personal history with Shadow. Is haunted by a daemon with a severed head. Began researching the Lighthouse and has stumbled into assembling this current party.

Skarn ___ (xX_S1lentshad0w_Xx)- A mysterious and impatient girl with a god complex. Has a soft spot for Argos. Knows a lot about the Lighthouse mystery, but won't share her information. Able to see things she shouldn't.
